Legendary Watergate journalist Bob Woodward chided the CNN news network and its “emotionally unhinged” response to President Donald Trump, saying that the remedy to the president’s actions isn’t a lawsuit but more journalism.

                                                                   “Emotionally unhinged”

Woodward’s comments were first noted and tweeted by MSNBC’s Dyan Byers. He was speaking Tuesday at the Global Financial Leadership Conference in Naples, Florida.
“In the news media there has been an emotional reaction to Trump,” Byers quoted Woodward on the CNN lawsuit, “too many people for Trump or against Trump have become emotionally unhinged about this.”

The combative news network made headlines when they responded with a lawsuit to the Trump administration revoking White House access to their journalist Jim Acosta after an altercation where he aggressively questioned the president.
Byers quoted Woodward as responding, “This is a negative,” to the lawsuit.
Woodward continued to remark that CNN was playing into the president’s hands by taking his bait and engaging in his strategy.

“The remedy isn’t a lawsuit,” he concluded, according to Byers, “it’s more serious reporting about what he’s doing.”
The iconic reporter has been a frequent critic of the president, which puts even more weight to his comments against the CNN lawsuit.
CNN alleges in its lawsuit that the president was infringing on Acosta’s First Amendment rights to operating under Freedom of the Press, and denying his right to due process. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded in a strong statement that decried the action.
“This is just more grandstanding from CNN, and we will vigorously defend against the lawsuit,” the statement read.
“Mr. Acosta is no more or less special than any other media outlet or reporter with respect to the First Amendment,” she added.
